This past April Mr. Rotman traveled to Europe with the Baptist College of Ministry Chamber Orchestra and Chorale (a ministry of the Falls Baptist Church) from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. There were 47 musicians’ and the tour was organized by Music Celebrations International (MCI).

He performed concerts with a brief testimony in Leipzig, Germany, Prague, the Czech Republic, and Vienna, Austria. He performed three compositions for piano and orchestra including works by Mozart (the 2 Piano Concerto with another College faculty member) , Gerald Finzi (a British composer), Ernest Bloch (a Swiss composer), and two solo works by Beethoven. He performed an encore in Prague and Vienna.

Besides the performances, two highlights were visiting Beethoven’s grave in Vienna, and the Beethoven Museum in Heiligenstadt, a suburb of Vienna. He gave a lecture at these two important landmarks.

This tour was sentimental, especially in Vienna. Mr. Rotman came to Vienna when he was 22 years old to participate in the month-long, 4th International Beethoven Competition in which he was a Laureate Winner. During the competition He visited various Beethoven museums and his grave. Although he has returned many times to give concerts in Vienna it was very nostalgic to be there 53 years later, to perform the music of Beethoven, and to share with the fellow musicians the genius his life and work.
